On March 22, 2022, Bayfront Hotel recently opened its in-house restaurant, Caja Kitchen Cebu. For more than seven years, the food department of Bayfront Hotel Cebu was run by a third party concessionaire. This year, the hotel decided to operate its own food and beverage department in both branches, Bayfront Hotel Cebu-North Reclamation Area and Bayfront Hotel Cebu-Capitol Site.
Coming up with a new brand entailed months of planning from revamping the menu, creating a cozy interior with a festive instagram-worthy mural which stands for Pinoy culture. According to Charlton C. Cokaliong, Founder and Managing Director of the hotel, he assures their guests of an improved and better service, and the quality of food served will remind you of good old home cooking.
Caja Kitchen Cebu now offers an all-Asian and Filipino cuisine like lechon belly, sweet and sour dishes, crispy pata, patatim, beef fillet, stir-fried vegetables, yang chow fried rice, paella, tempura, chicken satay, sushi rolls, and a delectable spread of fruits and desserts.
MY FAVORITE PICKS
The melt-in-your-mouth patatim served with the warm Chinese steamed bun, mantao 馒头, was deliciously good. I enjoyed it even more with a glass of iced cold Coke. I like how light the lasagna feels in between bites. Though it’s not your regular meaty dish but having veggies in it somehow complemented well with the other pork and beef dishes that I had. I haven’t had chicken satay in a long time now so I took a couple of skewers and I love how the nutty paste enhanced the flavor of the grilled chicken.
Their desserts have improved compared to my last visit last year. It’s a treat for someone who loves sweets. I recommend their chocolate moist ball, mango squares, and their chocolate mousse.
For a Php500 buffet rate, it is worth indulging because you get a buffet spread with a variety of dish to choose from plus it comes with unlimited iced tea or coffee.
