There are celebrations that are simply events—and then there are celebrations that make you pause and appreciate how far a community has come.
That was how I felt witnessing Something Blu celebrate its 10th year.
For a city like Cebu, where weddings are often grand, deeply personal, and beautifully Filipino, it is wonderful to see an event that has grown alongside the local wedding industry. What started as a bridal fair has evolved into something much bigger—a meeting place for couples, wedding suppliers, creative entrepreneurs, event professionals, and the people who work behind the scenes to make every “I do” extra special.
And after ten years, the numbers alone tell an incredible story.
More than 1,400 weddings have been hosted by the hotel over the years, while Something Blu has grown from just 30 exhibitors in 2013 to an impressive 114 exhibitors this year.
That is a decade of love stories, partnerships, celebrations, and countless beautiful Cebu weddings.

FROM 30 EXHIBITORS TO 114
I love stories of growth, especially when they involve local businesses and people who have poured their passion into what they do.
When Something Blu first started in 2013, it had only 30 exhibitors. Fast-forward ten years, and the bridal fair now brings together 114 exhibitors. That growth is more than just a bigger number of booths.
It reflects how much Cebu’s wedding industry has evolved—and how many talented local suppliers and entrepreneurs are now part of the wedding scene.
Something Blu has become a platform where Cebu’s wedding essentials community can come together, from established names in the industry to local SMEs who deserve their own spotlight.
And I particularly love that aspect.
Behind every beautifully styled wedding are small businesses, creative entrepreneurs, suppliers, artisans, coordinators, photographers, florists, designers, and countless other professionals whose work deserves to be seen. For many of these local SMEs, a bridal fair like Something Blu gives them the opportunity to showcase their craft, meet couples face-to-face, build visibility, and grow their businesses.
In a very Cebuano way, it is also a reminder that when we support local, we help one another grow.

MORE THAN JUST A BRIDAL FAIR
Something Blu may be called a bridal fair, but after ten years, it has become so much more than that. For soon-to-be brides and grooms, it is almost like having a one-stop destination for their wedding plans.
Planning a wedding can be overwhelming. There are venues to consider, suppliers to meet, details to decide, budgets to work around, and a million little things that suddenly become important when you are planning your big day.
Having an event where couples can meet different wedding professionals in one place makes the journey a little easier—and definitely more exciting. Instead of simply scrolling through social media looking for suppliers, couples get to actually meet the people behind the businesses, see their work, ask questions, and start imagining how all these details could come together for their own wedding.
That personal connection matters. After all, weddings are deeply personal celebrations.
1,400 WEDDINGS : 1,400 STORIES
One of the milestones that really stood out to me was hearing that the hotel has hosted more than 1,400 weddings over the past decade.
Just imagine that number.
More than 1,400 couples walked through those doors with their own dreams, families, traditions, personalities, and love stories. Some weddings were intimate. Others were grand. Some were carefully planned for months or even years. Others probably involved plenty of last-minute decisions and wedding-day surprises.
But every single one was somebody’s special day. And that is what makes the milestone meaningful.
A wedding venue isn’t simply a physical space. It becomes part of a couple’s story.
Years later, couples may come back and remember where they celebrated their first dance, where their families gathered, where they cut their wedding cake, or where they officially began their life together.
That is a pretty beautiful legacy.
THE PEOPLE BEHIND EVERY “I Do”
One thing I appreciated about the 10th anniversary celebration was that it wasn’t just about numbers and achievements.
It was also about people.
The organizers emphasized that something as successful as Something Blu cannot happen through one team alone.
As Ms. Ann Olalo, General Manager of Radisson Blu Cebu, puts it, “It takes a village.”
And that could not be more fitting. There are wedding suppliers, event partners, wedding professionals, hotel teams, commercial teams, and events teams all working together to create the experience.
There are the people you see at the fair—and the people you don’t see.
The ones who answer questions. The ones who handle unexpected guest concerns. The ones who find solutions when something doesn’t go according to plan. The ones who quietly make sure everything works.
The anniversary celebration gave a heartfelt thank-you to these people who have remained committed to Something Blue through the years.

A PARTNERSHIP THAT FEELS LIKE AN “I Do”
There was also something quite fitting about how the organizers described their relationship with their wedding partners.
These aren’t simply business partnerships.
After ten years, many have become part of the Something Blu family. The trust, commitment, and support shared throughout the years were likened to saying “I do” through thick and thin.
And honestly, I love that comparison.
Because just like marriage, lasting partnerships require trust, communication, commitment, and showing up—even when things get challenging. Ten years of Something Blu is therefore also ten years of relationships built and strengthened within Cebu’s wedding industry.
CEBU’S WEDDING COMMUNITY CONTINUES TO GROW
What makes celebrations like Something Blu special is how they reflect Cebu itself.
Cebu has always had a strong culture of celebrations.
We love gathering our families. We love beautiful food. We love dressing up. We love creating memorable occasions. And when it comes to weddings, we definitely know how to celebrate! But behind all those beautiful celebrations is an entire community of people working together.
Something Blu gives that community a place to connect.
It allows established brands and homegrown businesses to share the same stage. It gives couples access to professionals who can help shape their wedding dreams. And it gives local entrepreneurs an opportunity to introduce their work to a new generation of couples.
That makes the bridal fair more than a yearly event. It becomes part of Cebu’s wedding culture.
CHEERS TO THE NEXT 10 YEARS!
As Something Blu celebrates its first decade, I couldn’t help but appreciate how much a bridal fair can say about a community.
It tells us that Cebu has talented creatives. It tells us that our local businesses continue to grow. It tells us that partnerships can last. And most importantly, it tells us that there will always be people willing to work behind the scenes to help couples celebrate one of life’s biggest milestones.
From 30 exhibitors in 2013 to 114 exhibitors today, and from the first wedding to more than 1,400 weddings hosted, Something Blu has certainly come a long way.
Here’s to the couples who found their dream wedding here, the suppliers who continue to make celebrations beautiful, the local businesses that keep growing, and the hardworking teams who make every event possible.
Happy 10th anniversary, Something Blu!
Here’s to more beautiful weddings, more meaningful partnerships, more Cebuano businesses getting the spotlight they deserve—and another ten years of celebrating love.
Cheers to the next decade! 💙
