In a candid and heartfelt interview, Maxene Magalona opened up about her journey of healing, self-discovery, and eventual reconciliation with her family—marking a clear shift from mainstream celebrity life to becoming a passionate advocate for holistic wellness.
Appearing on the latest episode of broadcast journalist Karen Davila’s vlog, the daughter of the late Filipino rap icon Francis Magalona spoke openly about deeply personal chapters of her life. From taking a “cool-off” period with her family to navigating mental health challenges, Maxene shared how healing and advocacy became central to her everyday living.
Creating Distance to Heal
Maxene addressed the “healthy distance” she chose to place between herself and her family, describing it as a necessary step toward mutual healing. After being diagnosed with Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (C-PTSD), she realized that space was crucial for her well-being.
With time and inner work, that distance eventually led to reconnection. Maxene shared that prayer played a powerful role in restoring her bond with her mother and siblings. “When we were not together, I was actually praying for her. And she said she was doing the same for me,” she recalled.
Independent Living and the Practice of Self-Love
The conversation then turned to Maxene’s solo-living lifestyle and the routines that ground her daily. For her, healing is rooted in discipline—regular meditation, mindful eating, and intentional choices.

Now living alone in a condo, Maxene makes it a point to cook her own meals, believing food is deeply connected to mental health. “May connection ang eating with mental health,” she explained. “The food affects the brain. Everything is connected.”
Cooking, she added, has become therapeutic. To support her busy schedule, she relies on GrabMart for grocery essentials. “Kapag sobrang busy na ako, I can’t go to the grocery. I order through my Grab app—sa GrabMart. Sobrang convenient,” she shared.
Same Price, More Savings
During the episode, Maxene and Karen put GrabMart’s “Same Same” campaign to the test by comparing in-app prices with actual grocery shelf prices. Through Grab’s partnership with SM and Robinsons Supermarkets, they confirmed that prices online matched in-store prices exactly.

GrabMart also works with trained in-store pickers who ensure quality checks, freshness, and accuracy with every order. The pair even validated the freshness of the produce, highlighting the reliability of Grab’s merchant partners.

Adding to the convenience is GrabMart’s Saver Delivery option, with delivery fees starting as low as ₱49—perfect for last-minute holiday shopping.
Mindful Living This Holiday Season
For Maxene, convenience isn’t just about saving time—it’s about protecting mental health. “When it comes to your mental health, it’s about asking help from others. Para mabawasan yung to-do list mo, nandiyan si GrabMart para sa atin,” she said.

As the holidays approach, Maxene’s story offers a gentle reminder: live mindfully, ask for support when needed, and choose partners that make everyday life easier. Whether you’re living solo or with family, spending smart and caring for yourself can make the season more meaningful.
