As a food lover, I’m always on the lookout for unique dining experiences, and Kaayoo completely stole my heart (and taste buds) on my first visit.
Kaayoo | the filipino kitchen: A Perfect Blend of Industrial Chic & Cozy Elegance
Stepping into this restaurant felt like entering a perfect blend of industrial chic and cozy elegance. The exposed brick walls, raw concrete textures, and warm wooden accents create an effortlessly stylish vibe. Soft, ambient lighting from pendant lights and table lamps adds a welcoming glow, making it the ideal spot for an intimate dinner or a lively night out. I loved the floor-to-ceiling drapes framing the huge windows, giving the space a luxurious yet laid-back feel. With earthy tones, lush indoor plants, and beautifully arranged seating, this place isn’t just about good food—it’s an experience worth savoring.
Bulcachong – The Star of the Night
The moment I took a sip of their best-selling Bulcachong, I knew I was in for something special. This Davao-inspired soup, with its rich tomato-based broth and just the right touch of spice, was deeply comforting yet exciting—like a warm hug with a bit of a kick! The slow-cooked beef was melt-in-your-mouth tender, soaking up all the flavors of the broth, making every spoonful pure bliss.
Alongside the soup, I indulged in their Crispy Kare-Kare, a genius twist on a Filipino classic, where the peanut sauce clung perfectly to the crunchy meat, creating a contrast of textures I didn’t know I needed.
The Creamy Chicken Inasal Pasta was another surprise, blending the smokiness of inasal with a rich, velvety sauce that coated every strand of pasta beautifully.
And let’s not forget the Fried Lumpia, a simple yet irresistible starter, golden and crispy on the outside, bursting with flavor inside.
It was a special, intimate place—perfect for a heartwarming reunion with my former student-athletes turned friends after all these years. As we laughed and reminisced over great food, I couldn’t help but appreciate how this restaurant created the perfect atmosphere for reconnecting.
Lami Kaayoo: Tablea-Melted Cake Ala Mode
However, the real showstopper? The Tablea-Melted Cake Ala Mode—an absolute party in my mouth! Imagine slicing into a warm, moist molten chocolate cake, the rich, deep notes of Filipino tablea chocolate oozing out, only to be perfectly balanced by the cool, creamy vanilla ice cream. The dusting of cocoa powder on top added a touch of bitterness that made every bite an indulgent, well-rounded experience.
Though the price may be hefty, it’s worth a try. Kaayoo didn’t just serve me food; it gave me a flavorful journey worth coming back for. If you’re looking for a place that celebrates bold Filipino flavors with a creative touch, this spot is an absolute must-try!
