On January 18, Seda Ayala Center Cebu, a prominent hotel in Cebu City, set the stage for an unforgettable Sinulog celebration. The event commenced with a captivating Sinulog exhibit that showcased exquisite paintings and icons depicting the revered Holy Child Jesus, cherished by the Cebuano community. This remarkable exhibit was a collaborative effort involving talented Cebuano artists, designers, and Sto. Niño icon collectors, who demonstrated their deep devotion to the Sto. Niño through their remarkable artistry and craftsmanship.
Seda Ayala Center Cebu’s General Manager, Gwen Dela Cruz, and Director of Human Resources, Bobot Codoy led the ribbon-cutting ceremony that formally opened the Sinulog exhibit. Accompanying them were collaborating artists, Celso Pepito, Dr. Justeen Catan, Dr. Vicente Avanzado, and Ms. Margarita Frasco, whose invaluable contributions helped bring the exhibit to life.
Guests were treated to a series of captivating performances that added to the vibrant atmosphere of the Sinulog celebration. Sinulog Idol Allstars 2020 finalist, Jake Batiancela, mesmerized the audience with his soulful rendition. The Seda Ayala Center Cebu dancers also wowed the crowd with their graceful movements and synchronized routines to the tune of “I Love Cebu,” adding a dynamic element to the event. The performances elicited applause and left the audience in awe.
No celebration in Cebu is complete without indulging in the rich culinary heritage of the region. As part of the Sinulog celebration, guests were treated to a delightful spread of Cebuano merienda, featuring Empanada, Mini Pan de Sal filled with Pork Humba, Puto Maya with Mango, Palitaw, Sapin-Sapin, Biko with Latik, Bukayo in a shot glass, and Fresh Lumpia. The combination of these delectable treats offered a tantalizing taste of the local flavors, allowing attendees to immerse themselves in the authentic culinary experience of Cebu.
Following this appetizing merienda, the hotel presented the Kumbira feast, a special buffet offering exclusively available during the Sinulog weekend. The feast showcased a diverse array of mouthwatering dishes, satisfying the gastronomic cravings of all who attended. (See more food photos from Kumbira.)
