Cebu is famous for its delicious roasted pig or we fondly call, lechon. It has always been a part of any occasion, milestone, and even in an intimate gathering among families and friends.
Growing up in a household that loves to feast on laidback weekends, our table is never complete without a couple of kilos of lechon to pair with our homecooked meals. Then the next day, we’ll have paksiw and pair it with Spanish sardines. Ahhhh heaven!
I thought I had tasted the best lechon in town until it was my sister’s birthday years ago that I tasted Rico’s spicy lechon. Since then, nothing compared to such perfection – from the taste, the crispiness of the lechon skin, and the tenderness of the flavorful meat. The whole gastronomic experience reminded me of how my Lola used to roast pigs when I was still little.
So imagine how happy I was when I attended the media launch for Rico’s Lechon flagship restaurant in Mandaue a few days ago. Finally, we don’t have to go far for some lechon fix. And I was even more elated when they announced that they’ll be reopening the Escario store next month. So I’m excited about that!
RICO’S LECHON IN MANDAUE
Rico’s Lechon’s biggest restaurant is located at Unit F1 Jamestown, Mantawi International Drive, Mandaue City.
The 500 square meter-branch has a seating capacity of 300 pax, including four VIP rooms for meetings, gatherings, and special functions with family and friends. The largest room can seat up to 80 guests, while the other three can accommodate 20 pax.
I love the play of colors on their furniture, customized wall paintings and light fixtures. Meat Concepts Corporation President and the new owner of Rico’s Lechon, George Pua, said that “instead of putting up banderitas, they added colors on their furniture to give a more festive look of the lechon place.” And he added that most of the décor is “made from Cebuano furniture makers.”
The restaurant’s whole contemporary classic interior makes the diners feel at home and have that feeling of “Old Cebu with a Twist.”

Don’t forget to share your Rico’s Lechon experience on social media with the hashtag #DaBestGyud and #RICOmeback.
#FOODPIMP: Have some spicy Rico’s Lechon and pair it with Kinilaw na Tanguigue and Chorizo Rice. It’s totally a party-in-your-mouth experience! Also, try the Lumpia Lechon Shanghai. Just like their Chicharon Bulaklak, it’s one appetizing treat! If you have a sweet tooth, try their Oreo Mango Float. The chocolate cookie crumbs and mango float meshed well together 🙂
I must say, DA BEST GYUD ANG RICO’S LECHON! 🙂
